About this
Event Description
A 15th-century house where water weeps from nowhere.
A Grade II* listed former manor house believed to date from around 1485 (with a predecessor recorded as far back as 1377), nicknamed ‘The House That Cries’ after pools of water that appear in its main hall with no obvious source. Local accounts describe a small boy by the fireplace, footsteps, door handles turning unaided, and poltergeist-type disturbances once linked to a resident chaplain’s family. Behind its Georgian brick façade survive wattle-and-daub panels and medieval wall painting.
Still a lived-in private home, the hall opens for three collaborative nights. Standard and Premium tiers investigate the sitting room, entrance hall and the reported water-phenomena site using traditional techniques, and the Halloween Extended Lock-In continues to 4am.
What’s included
Standard: guided investigation of the sitting room, entrance hall and water-phenomena site with equipment and unlimited hot/cold drinks. Premium: extended vigils with Ouija, glass divination and table-tipping. Extended Lock-In (31 Oct): investigation to 4am plus an optional lone-vigil slot.
