About this
Event Description
Investigate a 250-year-old prison — then sleep in a former cell.
Built in 1779 using prisoners of war as labour and operational for nearly 150 years, Bodmin Jail was the first British prison to hold inmates in individual cells. It saw 55 public executions between 1785 and 1909, safeguarded the Domesday Book and the Crown Jewels during the First World War, and reopened in 2021 after a £65 million redevelopment as a heritage attraction and hotel.
Our Lock-In offers what no other venue in this collection can: a genuine overnight stay on site once the investigation ends. Choose a twilight history tour, a standard or Premium investigation, or the VIP Lock-In with a night in a room built into the former cells. Handled with respect for the real lives that ended here — atmosphere, not exploitation.
