Last Orders at the Skirrid

A vigil in the oldest pub in Wales — with rooms to stay the night.

Believed to be around 900 years old and widely marketed as the oldest public house in Wales, the Skirrid’s first floor is said to have served as a courtroom. Judge George Jeffreys is locally believed to have sentenced men to death here during the Bloody Assizes after the 1685 Monmouth Rebellion, with more than 180 hangings said to have taken place from the oak beam over the staircase — rope marks are still visible today.

Still a working pub with a kitchen, bar and real overnight rooms, the Skirrid hosts our three-night collaboration around normal trading. Standard and Premium vigils run through the historic rooms and staircase, and the VIP Lock-In lets you stay the night in the inn’s own rooms after the investigation.
